Pouch Making And Design
A perfect Course for budding pouch and bag makers.
Pouches as standalone items are excellent projects to undertake at the beginning of your leatherwork journey.
With them being so versatile and rich in skills, you cannot help but benefit from all they have to offer.
As your skill set grows so do your options, they not only become a good source of income to help with funding your craft but also offer a solid stepping stone into the world of bag and case making.
Making pouches is an ideal way to generate income and build skills if bag making is on the horizon.
Course Content
During this course, you will create a pattern and template for a short gusset pouch, this is a single item pouch where the dimensions are taken from the item the pouch is to be used for.
This will teach you how to measure and design items where the internal dimensions are key. Along with this, core skills such as, Measuring, Cutting, Pattern Making, Stitching, Creasing and Edge Dressing will be covered.
If a little more adept or experienced, a more complex pouch can be worked on covering such gussets as C Shaped Simple Seam, S Shaped Lapped Seam, Two Part Oval, Tight Corner, Two Part D Shape, Horseshoe Gusset, Three or Five Part Gusset and many more.
If taken as a multiple day course, more technical skills can be added such as lining, piping and trimming.
This is where we begin to see how pouch making begins to resemble bag making.
Who is this course for?
This is an ideal course for the an early adept wanting to get into pouch making or adepts who are looking to expand their skillset into bag making.
A simple Short Gusset Pouch can be achieved by someone with only the basic understanding in just a day. However, should you already be well into your leather working journey a course covering the more complex techniques and gussets would be ideal.
