Group Courses here in the Workshop
Being in a group environment when learning can often be quite a social and rewarding way to achieve. It is also more cost effective.
As a part of a class, you are able to bounce ideas off each other, share projects, thoughts and opinions. Networking if you will.
In the workshop, space for you to learn is an important factor, the 16 foot long, 5 foot wide bench, is large enough for you to have ample space to spread out and work in comfort.
If you have your own tools, please feel free to bring them along. Nigel will be happy to take a look to ensure they are working optimally and give you any pointers you may need on use.

It is an excellent, if not vital, introduction to bag and case making.
It teaches the Bag Makers skills such as: Measuring, Pattern Making, Cutting, Stitching, How to add Gussets and Various Seams, Creasing, Dressing and of course, Design.

It is designed for those just starting out or early in their leather working journey.

Tired of using other people’s templates only to find they don’t work?
Can’t find the template that suits your build?
In this session, we will look in detail at how to create your own templates and make them to any size.
Nigel will take you on a deep dive into the subject and together, you will go into detail about what a template needs for it to be effective and functional.
If you can master a template, you can make anything!

The Cardholder is often seen as a simple build, one that requires little effort or the need of a particularly high skill set. In many cases, that would be a fair assessment. However… Here at Armitage Leather, the Cardholder is viewed as a foundational introduction to the core skills.
The skills used to produce a cardholder here in the workshop are the very same skills you would find in all other items. As such, it is an excellent subject on which to both learn and hone those skills.
To cover the subject in full, two days are required, the first being a deep dive into template making with the second on the techniques of construction.
It is fair to say… you will be taken down the rabbit hole!
