Card Holder Group Course

A Full Day In The Workshop With Nigel
Learning How to make a Cardholder

The Cardholder is often seen as a simple build, one that requires little effort or the need of a particularly high skill set. In many cases, that would be a fair assessment. However… Here at Armitage Leather, the Cardholder is viewed as a foundational introduction to the core skills.
The skills used to produce a cardholder here in the workshop are the very same skills you would find in all other items. As such, it is an excellent subject on which to both learn and hone those skills.
To cover the subject in full, two days are required, the first being a deep dive into template making with the second on the techniques of construction.
It is fair to say… you will be taken down the rabbit hole!

During the course we will cover the following skills and techniques using Discussion, Demonstration and Practice:
Tool Selection and Use
Design
Measuring for an item
Template Making
Leather Selection
Cutting
Skiving
Stitch Marking Stitching
Creasing
Bevelling
Edge Dressing

You will also have a clear understanding of all of the processes involved, which will include Techniques, Skills and Tools required.
The completion of the Cardholder is dependant on your skillset and ability during the course, but in almost all cases, it is achievable.
