Leather Belt Making Course
Learn the skills behind a well-made leather belt
A belt may appear to be a simple strip of leather and a buckle, but making one that fits correctly, wears well and looks properly finished requires careful measurement, sound design and accurate construction.
During this one-to-one course, you will explore the decisions and techniques behind a well-made belt, from measuring and template making to stitching and finishing.
There is not enough time to complete a finished belt during the day. You will leave with a set of working templates and the knowledge needed to use them confidently in future projects.
Course Content
During the course, you will learn how and where to take the measurements required for a correctly fitting belt. Waist size is only part of the process; understanding where each measurement comes from and how it affects the finished belt is equally important.
Much of the essential work takes place before the leather is cut. You will learn how to turn your measurements into accurate working templates and understand how those templates control the fit and proportions of the belt.
The course also covers belt-specific stitching and finishing techniques, giving you a repeatable method that can be applied confidently to future belts.
Who is this course for?
This course is for leatherworkers who already have a basic understanding of measuring, cutting and stitching leather. It is suited to those who want a dependable method for designing and making belts, or who wish to improve the fit, consistency and finish of belts they already produce.
What is included?
All materials, tools and sundries needed during the day are provided. There are no additional costs or fees.
Lunch
Lunch is at 12:30 and is not provided, so please bring provisions. Details of local amenities and accommodation are included in the joining pack once the course is booked. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day, including freshly brewed coffee.
All face-to-face courses take place at the Armitage Leather workshop. The course runs from 9 am to 4 pm, with a break for lunch at 12:30. Contact details and directions are available on the Contact page.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel, please let me know as soon as possible.
Cancellations made 14 days or more before the course date are eligible for a full refund.
Cancellations made less than 14 days before the course date are not eligible for a refund, although an alternative date may be offered.
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the course start time are not eligible for a refund. A further date may be offered at 50% of the normal course price.
All alternative dates are offered at the discretion of Armitage Leather.
If you would like to attend as a couple, trio or group of friends, you can add up to two additional places when booking. The second and third places are each reduced by 50%. Select the number of additional attendees at checkout.
