Group TUB Making Course

Reach a higher level in your craft with Tub making

This is without doubt one of those courses that will test your awl skills.
It will be challenging, but extremely rewarding.
It’s level of detail is almost on par with boxes.

On this course, you will learn how to design, measure, cut and stitch a short leather tub, think of it as a posh dice cup.
You will learn about reverse irons, Butted Seams, stitching between fixed points, template making, leading and dragging your irons, leather choice and tool selection.

You will then move onto a Lined and lidded tub.

The level of precision required is high, good understanding of leatherwork is advisable.

The course will cover the correct measuring for both internal and external aspect of tubs, a detail useful when making tubs for a specific purpose.

A quick google search will no doubt yield results for accommodation local to the workshop to best suit your budget and coffee making facility requirements.
To assist, here are a few options students have used in the past and have been quite happy with.

There are a number of hotels nearby, if that is something you are looking for.

The Hilton Hotel located at St Georges Park is about 4 miles away. https://www.hilton.com/en/

Then there is Hoar Cross Hall, also about 4 miles from the workshop: https://baronseden.com/hoar-cross-hall/dinner-bed-breakfast
Pricey but posh and the breakfasts are great.

Then there are a few country pubs offering accommodation.

The Shoulder of Mutton has been popular with Students and has good reviews: https://www.hamstall.co.uk

There is also the Golden Cup in Yoxall: It has mixed reviews online so I’ll leave that with you.
I will add that a number of students have now stayed there and all have had positive things to say about it.

Airbnb is always worth a search, it is ever changing so just tap DE13 8PH, the postcode of the workshop in and add the dates of the course.
It will populate with all options available in the area at that time: Airbnb

A wider Google Search will reveal many more options.
